The design process
Inspiration for a new creation comes from many different sources and never seems to take the same path twice. Once I do have an idea, the process of crafting a new creation involves lots of trial and error. This begins in the design phase where I try to get my idea into a physical drawing which then goes through any number of changes or refinements. Once I’m happy with the design concept, I usually craft a prototype to see how well my ideas work in the real world. This phase helps identify details that might seem like a good idea but may need to be tweaked or changed altogether. With a refined prototype in hand, I can then move to the aesthetic phase where I decide what raw materials I’ll use. I can then start to craft the final product. While this process might seem a bit cumbersome, it is a part of any creative process.
